Mommy Diaries: Selfcare

A quick reminder to all new mommies out there… Selfcare is an act of feminism.

Selfcare is an act of feminism because protecting and preserving your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing in a world that continuously exploits your labour with little rewards and is hostile to a number of identities (like motherhood) – you have to step up and care for yourself.

And do not forget that sometimes it would be your own gender who’s more interested to see you fail than the opposite, acting as agents of toxic masculinity and gatekeepers of patriarchy. Often questioning and shaming you for wanting to get back into the society after childbirth, or even as a matter of fact looking good and presentable!

Take some time out for yourself. You, as a new mom, need hot meal and long hot-shower (if not a bath) – and the more you care for yourself, the better you can care for your little one.

P.s. if you enjoy my content, keep it fuelled, by buying me a coffee, I’ll remember you while having a much needed sip.
