It was a hard decision and after many debates… we finally asked. And both of them said yes! The idea was to keep it inside the family. His brother and my eldest cousin-sister.
Traditionally, godparents serve as spiritual guides for their godchildren. Now since the child will grow up in mixed cultural background – both the godparents are rather meant to serve as role models, provide spiritual guidance, and take an active interest in the spiritual development of their godchild (and of course smother them with love and teach them other stuff).
We couldn’t think of two people better suited to take this role than Jhumpa and Schalk. Both are spiritually inclined and not blind followers of anything but logically (and reasonably) perceive faith and upbringing. I am glad that we have them both in our child’s life.
