Day 9: Gender

Old tales and oral traditions from pregnancy to child-rearing to illness and beyond kept people “knowledgeable” in the olden days – so “old wives’ tales” for “gender prediction” is nothing of a surprise!

I have to admit, it’s a bit unnerving when people ask me about the gender of the baby. It just reminds me that I will have a lot of personalised crafts to do for the little one. Yes, most people would buy merchandise based on babies gender… I will stick to my family colours of Red, Gold, and Silver. As a designer, that is quite a challenge – gender neutral baby stuff. So perhaps a reason why, apart from the parents, – no one gets to know the gender till the kid is born.

So no guessing from my baby bump nor my urine colour. That stuff won’t sail my boat! Let the gender be.
