Vaccinated

i woke up

heavy arms – covid vaccine.

can’t lift, yet i

sprinted to my turquoise bicycle:

rode down to the aare, early…

flung off my socks and shoes,

ran down the steps, put my feet in the river

and felt cold water flow.

i miss the sea. so i closed my eyes

and imagined heaving waves –

foaming and tingling around

my freshly shaved legs –

just as my iWatch buzzed. time to go.

train is waiting, waiting

to take me to work.

i found there with excitement,

a pleasant productive summer day,

⁃ the day a pastel dress i wore,

sprinkled with jasmine perfume.
