Little Book of Wisdom

Little book of wisdom, I carry in my heart.

Pushing against difficulty,

elbow tucked, head down,

encompasses all essence of love,

encompasses all essence of compassion,

little book of wisdom, I carry in my heart.

Passed on to me by my mother’s hand,

grandmother’s love, and women before,

makes the woman I am fighting for.

Little book of wisdom, I carry in my heart.

Lifting my heavy load of hurt,

disenchantments in the face of reality –

teaching me to rise, when the sun comes down,

every-time I fall. Every-time I fall.

Little book of wisdom, I carry in my heart.

Mingles my blood with blessings above –

teaching me to rise as the morning breaks,

pushing against difficulty,

elbow tucked, head down,

fight, fight fears, fight injustice, be brave.

Little words of wisdom whispered in my ears,

whoever I am, whatever my belief –

I alone am responsible for my joy, my glee.
