Highest peak of inner tranquillity
comes while sleeping under a peepal tree,
on a sunny afternoon of fall,
after a week of bleeding.
I wonder if any man can be
as resilient and courageous as you and I,
or even as strong as those who define
themselves as feminine?
All our women past, mother’s grandmother,
infinite mothers before us,
had the same blood flowing.
On the fifth day of the flow,
when pain and internal battles
are at their low, that’s when it comes –
peak of inner tranquillity.
