Ode to the Tigris

My brave Tigris you inspire me.

The way you prowl,

invading my distorted mind,

always ready and fierce.

Let me compare you to a golden Larch?

Patient when wounded and standing tall.

Born as Aries blessed the angry flowers of March,

when axed down you do a splendid fall.

Self love has its ways.

In the mirror I see your golden stripes, deep eyes,

thinking of your shangri dream-filled days,

passion for life mustn’t be hidden in olden ‘guise.

Drink up as you must restart with a lifelong heart,

memories through words, if Tigris and I – must apart.
